Moving Forward
This has been a great summer for us ... giving has stayed consistent, new people coming each week (and many are coming back), and fairly good attendance. Today our attendance was more than our average for a non-holiday, non-summer Sunday. We were shocked but excited ...
All this confirms that we are on target to go ahead and launch our 2nd service in a few weeks when we turn four years old. I'm so pumped and I sense growing excitement in our folks. We've got a key leadership dinner/meeting this week to lay out the vision for multiple services in a strategic way to grow the church AND alleviate our space issues. Please pray for us this week.
We have decided to offer a 9:00 & 10:45 am service. We didn't want to go earlier than 9:00 because '8' scares a lot of people. 10:45 means we'll be changing our current worship time from 10:30. Our service runs about 65-75 minutes and I feel if we cut something we'd sacrifice creativity, worship, the Word, prayer time or rush the service. Plus, we'll need a good 20-30 minutes to clear out parking, preschool, and the theatre. Some folks are nervous about the change from 10:30 ... (mainly they like beating the other churches to lunch) but I think strategically 9 & 10:45 gives us two optimal times to reach people.
