Christmas Kick-off
I want to share what God has been sharing with me these past couple of weeks. Basically, God has been challenging me to be more about Him and less about me and less about Rock Bridge. What I mean is that so much of my pastoring/leading is about me and by extension the success of Rock Bridge. I believe God wants RBCC to keep growing and keep reaching people BUT not for me or because of me. God is God no matter what, worthy of my praise & life no matter what, and He is good no matter what.
If Rock Bridge suddenly stopped growing or something else happened, God would still be God, He'd still have died for my sins and given me eternal life, and He'd still be the only thing worthy of my worship!!
This really hit me as I remember what UGA Coach Mark Richt said after the big Auburn win this year:
"Win or lose, I'm going to praise the Lord ... no matter what. That's just the way it is."
That statement has been liberating me from myself!! No matter what happens I can praise God. No matter what happens God loves me. No matter what happens God is in control.
These thoughts are framing up my prayers right now. I still ask God for big things that are worthy of His glory & kingdom BUT I rest in the fact that He is a BIG God no matter what who loves little me no matter what!
